Digital Slate

Well, I am very confused as to what am i to do with my life. I have many fields that grab up my interest like singing, sketching(i can only imitate something to sketch it), researching anything to add to my knowledge(that one is of the utmost interest to me), story writing and poetry. I am getting at a =n age where I am supposed to take a profession. Sketching and singing are not much of a profession in my land and researching... Well I am currently doing B-Tech and am supposed to be an engineer and join a company for my livelihood. Or if i get really lucky then I might go for higher studies in foreign land and then become a researcher(scientist), I suppose. But the thing is my mind and heart keep on changing and my interests keep on swapping.
Once I even began writing a story http://akittyinthegraveyard.blogspot.com which is currently abandoned(I hope the writer inside me pops out again to complete this story). Currently I am trying for 3 things on which my future in higher studies can get affected a lot. Those are, first a paper in ISLPED 2010. second is Linux Con 2010 presentation and third is GSOC. My selection news in all of them shall be delivered in the late of this month. Even the usefulness of each of them depends such, if i get selected in first then i can think of attending second and so i shall be financially supported by 3rd. In any case, I just think that everything is fine. Life is cool and i believe i will make something out of it in anycase. BBye.

Hello all.

This is Abhishek Sharma, pursuing my B-Tech from Indian Institute of Information Technology. I am aspiring fro GSOC 2010 and interested in developing the Desktop Client for DreamWidth.
I have a good knowledge of C, C++ and Qt as far as GUI development is concerned. I have also developed 2-3 websites previously of which 1 is officially used by an institute as their project site(Virtual Labs by DEI, USIC Department).
To be frank, without a mentor's assistance as of now, I am completely blank as to what exactly I have to achieve. In technical terms, I am awaiting some guidance in terms of GUI Design, the backend technologies to be incorporated (like MySQL etc.) and what is the density of the project.

I am willing to give my max effort my mentor asks me to do,I just need a bit guidance at the turns.

The beginning of the project is the first turn, and I gladly await the mentor's response.
